A Father's Day tribute

My husband is a quadriplegic and he is paralyzed from the chest down. He has no use of his hands and not much strength in his triceps either. Daniel sometimes feels like he is not the best daddy out there, because he is not like any other dad out there, but I will tell you the many things that I love about this man of mine.

I love it when I watch you tickling our son by using your knuckles or by using your chin. I love hearing our son hysterically laughing when you do this to him. I love that our son wants you to chase him and then runs into an area where you can't get him. I love it when you take him for a wagon ride by strapping the wagon to the back of your chair. I love watching our son share his drink or his popsicle while you two would laugh about it. I love that our son always wants to help us out by getting the hoyer lift and hooking the sling to the hoyer lift. I love that every time Evan watches Wall-E, he calls the character Wall-E "Dada" because he sees you in your chair as Wall-E. I love when you are in bed and if you need something, Evan is willing to go get it for you. I love hearing the word "dada" out of his mouth. I love watching you guys cuddling in bed and watching YouTube videos together. As I'm typing this at the moment, I'm watching you getting Evan to eat his food after he's been refusing to eat something healthy and Evan is giggling about it. I love how you have so much patience with him than I think I do. Most important of all, I love that you are such a wonderful father even though you may not feel like you're the best father to him. I love you Daniel, Happy Father's Day!

Pay it forward

Pay it forward. Lately on Facebook, I've heard of friends paying it forward. You know, doing something nice to others such as buying a Starbucks drink to the next person in line. This morning I went grocery shopping. I've been wanting to get groceries for a while, but unfortunately we didn't have the money to get food. So this morning my cart was pile up high into the cart full of food and I didn't think about my coupons at home!I just needed food in my house. As I was placing my food on the conveyor belt, the person ahead of me stayed behind and told the cashier lady that he will pay for my groceries! I just wanted to cry, but I kept it in and thank this guy, who happened to be an old friend of my husband's. We haven't seen this friend for a long time and he has a job and a family of his own. Well the bill was a little pricey, well close to $200 and it amazes me someone just offer to pay that bill! Saved us $200 for our other debts that we need to pay off. It makes me to want to pay it forward to others. Of course I'm not going to pay someone else's grocery bills like that worth, at least not at this moment. A little bit after I got home, a friend came over for a play date with our kiddos and she brought Del Taco over for lunch and the best homemade French Macaroons ever! So the point of this story, once you feel like life is knocking you down with your financial situations, cheer up cause God has put others into your life to be there for you. Even friends who you haven't spoken to for a long time will someday pop up into your life.

The caregivers needing to be taking care of too

Sorry that I haven't made any blogs for a while. Being a caregiver to my husband and son, I never

really have the time to blog. For today's topic it's going to be the caregiver needing to be taking care

of  too.

Right now I have chronic back pain due to taking care of my husband and then going straight

to picking up my son. I know that I can't just depend on myself to just taking care of my family

and cleaning up my house, so I have to rely on family. Even though the in-laws coming over often, it

can be overwhelming and frustrating. Oh, and if any of my in-laws are reading this, don't get

offended by that. I love you guys and truly blessed and very grateful to have you guys come over

when we need you. In fact, I am truly blessed to my family, to friends, my church family,

and others who have helped us over the past two and a half years. Please feel free to call me or

message me on Facebook that you want to help out. I sometimes have a hard time giving Daniel

his stretches because my back is in pain or I can't pick things off the floor because it hurts to bend

over.

As a caregiver, we carry a heavy load. We see the pain and feel the pain of the person we are

caring for, but yet there is not much we can do about it. So my resolution this year is to take

care of myself and to give up my selfish needs and ask for help.
